The spiral micronizer is a jet mill, in which the micronization process takes place by impact. Through the nozzles arranged on the perimeter of the chamber, gas is fed in and a spiral is created with tangential velocity of 30 to 150 m/sec and radial velocity of about 3 m/sec, and the reduction of the size of the particles of the powder is caused by the high-speed collisions between the particles, while the degree of reduction is determined by the energy provided by the gas and the geometry of the static classifier placed before the chamber exit. There are numerous advantages in using a spiral micronizer, including easy cleaning for validation, thus avoiding cross-contamination, no moving mechanical parts, no heat generation, constant temperature, and high productivity.
